Sunny Isles couldn't be more appropriately named.  Located a bit north of Miami Beach, Sunny Isles is a group of tiny islands so close together that most residents never even know they are living on an island.

The area has experienced many makeovers during the past few decades and the last one turned it into a vacationer's paradise.  Much more affordable, but still providing luxury, scenery and the best Miami has to offer, Sunny Isles is an idea location for groups, families, or even couples to spend a week, month, or even a season.

For the "snow bird" crowd, Sunny Isles has grown in popularity just over the past few years.  Certainly helped along by the recent housing market plunge, many homes, condos and apartments can be had for bargain basement rates for long term seasonal rentals.

Investment companies and private owners alike love to have reliable, trustworthy, credit worthy, individuals commit to long term rentals simply because there's a high likelihood their properties will be well cared for.  When housing is left empty, all sorts of problems can arise.

There are plenty of deals to be found.  Depending on when you'd like to come will depend on how soon in advance you should start looking.  Come Labor Day, many of the desirable properties (based on beachfront location and price) have already been reserved. 

In order to do some research you should look in local papers as well as contacting Miami real estate agents that specialize in rental and vacation properties.  Sometimes the best deals are made when you deal directly with the owner of the property.

Before making a commitment, however, make sure the property has everything you need.  For instance, if you have a pet, make certain it's OK to bring Fido or Fluffy before packing him up and driving south.
